Nbc Will Pay Ann Curry 10M A Year Not To Co Anchor Today

She’s only had her Today gig for almost exactly a year, so why is NBC letting her go? We’ll probably never know for sure, but reportedly it’s because Matt Lauer didn’t want her as his co-anchor when he made that big $25 million a year deal with Today a few months back. In any case, Curry has gotten the order that her services are no longer required at Today. But (un?)fortunately for Curry, NBC isn’t going to pay her $10 million a year for the next two years just to sit around. The word is that Curry will be transferred to the job of foreign correspondent for NBC News. So Curry ends up making like a bandit thanks to getting the axe from Today – $10 million a year is an incredibly high salary for a foreign correspondent. The only people who really suffer in this deal are Curry’s bosses at NBC, who probably never figured they’d have to fork over $10 million for a foreign correspondent! It’s not known yet how long Curry will continue on in her current spot on Today, but the answer to that question will probably be addressed on the show very soon.
