Kanye West Is Annoyed That Apple Hasn T Bought Tidal Yet
Kanye West’s latest album, The Life of Pablo, was a Tidal exclusive release when it dropped earlier this year. This meant that for over a month, the only way to listen to the album, was on the Jay Z-owned music streaming service. After the exclusivity period was over, the project was then made available on other services, such as Apple Music. Apparently, this approach didn’t make Kanye too happy, and he went on a Twitter rant on Saturday afternoon, expressing his displeasure over the beef between the two streaming services. “This Tidal Apple beef is fucking up the music game,” tweeted the Chicago native early Saturday afternoon. His second tweet read, “I need Tim Cook Jay Z Dez Jimmy [Iovine] Larry [Jackson] me and Drake Scooter [Braun] on the phone or in a room this week!!!,” followed by a tweet that read, “F**k all this dick swinging contest. We all gon be dead in 100 Years. Let the kids have the music.” His last tweet regarding the situation was telling, especially when taking into consideration the rumors swirling around Apple and their reported interest in buying Tidal for their exclusive artists. Kanye’s last tweet read, “Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve.” That tweet was likely directed towards Apple CEO Tim Cook, encouraging him to stop trying to employ hardball tactics the late Steve Jobs was fond of, as the head of Apple. Kanye’s tweets clearly didn’t fall on deaf ears. Shortly after Kanye’s rant, music mogul Scooter Braun and Apple Music executive Larry Jackson, both mentioned in Ye’s tweets, responded in a positive fashion. Scooter tweeted in response to Kanye, “I will meet you guys there. Maybe nobu? 1230? Yellowtail anyone?” Jackson then responded to Braun’s tweet in a tweet that read, “FaceTime me in :)” Will Kanye’s tweets help jumpstart talks between Apple and Tidal? Only time will tell.
